Have You Quit Before Even Getting Started?

Have You Quit Before Even Getting Started? Yes, you read that right.

Many times I have thought of something to do, but then I nix the idea – sometimes almost immediately.

There’s many things in life that we need to prepare “before getting started.”

Those things include

    • rehearsing for a concert
    • preparing for a speech
    • going to school before becoming a teacher
    • writing a proposal for an architectural bid
    • training for a marathon
    • going to the grocery store to buy ingredients before cooking
    • taking a Lamaze or a hypnobirthing class before having a baby
    • tilling soil before sowing seeds and
    • preparing your mindset before launching a business.

I think you get the idea now and I think you can think of some of your examples.

Many times, there’s a preparation period before a race or challenge or trial.

Have you had the idea to do something and you have put it off?

For me, I’ve wanted to learn to play the ukulele for at least 2 years, but I haven’t even picked up an ukulele in all that time. Why? I say to myself, “I don’t have time.” I just don’t have the motivation for it right now since I have other priorities. One thing I can do to prep myself is to carve out time, even 15 minutes a day to practice. Another thing I can do is to think of the benefits that I’d get from accomplishing being able to play the uke.

For me – when I was single – I had wanted to get married for a long. I can see now that God was preparing me for not just my vocation of marriage. I am happily married to the best ever match for me. But, now I believe that God was preparing me to be able to serve Catholic single women on a deep level since I have walked that journey of doubting that I would ever become married.

Are you a Catholic single woman who wants to get married? Are you giving up before you have even started dating? Are you saying,

    • I don’t think I’ll find anyone
    • I’m not enough
    • It’s ok if I don’t get married
    • I don’t have time for dating
    • I have a lot of job commitments
    • My parents need me
    • I have family obligations

Think about it. If you have been constantly saying any of the above, then you are quitting before you have even started. Sure, you can have a major deadlines at work and your parents will need you do some things sometimes. But, if you make that a constant excuse, than you are choosing to stay with the familiar.

If you believe that God has called you to the vocation of marriage, there is a way for you to become married.

TRUST GOD

LET THE HOLY SPIRIT GUIDE YOU

RECOGNIZE THAT JESUS IS WALKING WITH YOU

Then,

LISTEN TO GOD

and

ACT

Remember, on the Road to Emmaus, Jesus was the one who drew near to the two men.

God is already with you. I know for me, I can improve on drawing closer to God.

I remember getting an aha moment when I first heard in a business webinar that our actions match our mindset.

I encourage you to HAVE FAITH and BELIEVE. This is your preparation before dating, finding the man who will become your husband, and getting married.

Keep your aspiration of marriage alive. One way to do that is to read the bible. Look for verses about love. Write them down. God does not want you to quit before you even start. God will help you find someone.

Are you willing to say YES to the vocation of marriage?

Well, your training before dating is to share time with God. Draw closer to him. Immerse yourself in God’s word. This is how you till the “soil” of your mind.

Are you up for the challenge?

It is a challenge. But, I know you can do it. I have been where you are and I am very happily married now.

Don’t quit before you have even started.

“Put your hands to the plough.”

You reap what you sow.
